Walmart Holiday Meals Under $30 Giveaway

***Closed: Congrats to Cindy and Nancy***

Getting ready for the holidays is stressful enough. There are presents to buy (and wrap and hide), cookies to bake, houses to clean. Then there's the holiday meal. Not only does it involve time I often can't find, it also includes spending money I haven't budgeted in during the holiday season.

I assume I'm not alone in feeling this way, as Walmart has teamed up with Chef Aarón Sánchez to offer tips on cooking a holiday meal for under $30.

Walmart’s $30 Christmas feast for eight includes:
  • One 10-pound spiral cut half-ham
  • Three 8-ounce cans Del Monte Green Beans
  • One 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes
  • One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
  • One 10 inch Pumpkin Pie
While the New Years Eve party spread for 10 (for as low as $40) includes:
  • Shrimp Tray (5 servings)
  • Vegetable Tray (10 servings)
  • Hillshire Farms Little Smokies (8 servings)
  • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls (6 servings)
  • Land O’Lakes Egg Nog (8 servings)
  • Red Velvet cake
At our house, we always end up with way to much food, from baked ham and turkey to mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. As a way to save money, we all bring a dish or two. That way no one person is responsible for the entire cost of a meal.

Plus, we buy most of our groceries at Walmart. It not only saves us money, compared to the prices at other grocery stores nearby, but we can pick up our dinner supplies while doing our last minute shopping.

Learn More:
Be sure to check out Walmart's Holiday Meal page to find recipes and tips for the holiday season.

Win It:
Two lucky readers will receive a $30 gift card to Walmart

Shop sales only and use a coupon to go with the item that is already on sale. Look for a store near you that has double coupons, although not everyone can do that. Thanks!

My best money saving tip is to stack coupons. Many stores will allow a printed coupon along with a loadable coupon (on the store discount card). I will usually do this when an item is on sale and sometimes get it almost free. I also like big combo deals where you buy one item and get a bunch free. The freezer is my friend.

I always look at the back of the store for clearance. I have found some great things.

ANewKindOfPerfect said...

To save money, I do a few things. I always clip coupons! I go to the back aisles or end caps where the clearance stuff is. A smushed corner on a cereal box makes me about $1 at our grocery store. :) I always go to the 99 Cents Only store before the grocery store, because you never know what they will have. They almost always have eggs and milk and salad for $1!

I would love to win this WalMart card. It's where I get all our baby food and Pull-Ups! :)

And I am now following your blog, for a second entry and a chance to get to know you better! :)

I stopped buying name brand items all the time. There are some foods/items that really dont taste a BIT of difference, but for some...we do stick to our favorites. THIS alone has saved us SO much money. AND, we shop the current sales in the flyers each week and plan our meals around it. AS for gifts...if its not on sale it stays on the shelf or hanger!!! thanks!
