Tackle It Tuesday: Reward Chart

Lately, I've been dealing with a rather grumpy Little Man. I'm not sure if it's the time change, a cold coming on or what, but 9 days out of ten, he's been in a mood.

In an effort to reward good behavior, encourage him to have fun at school, and praise a good mood, I decided to create a reward chart.

Since I'm cheap frugal, I gathered supplies from around the house. Materials:
An old cookie sheet
Mod Podge
Some pretty paper
Stickers
Magnet sheets

To create:
1. Glue paper onto cookie sheet. I added a second color to create a place for the magnets before they were earned.

2. Put stickers onto magnet sheets and cut out.3. Arrange magnets on cookie sheet. I created daily labels, so Little Man can see how many stickers he's received each day.4. Be on the lookout for good behavior to reward. (Little Man can earn the book stickers for reading, the schools for behaving at school, pencils for practicing his writing, food for trying something new, and the others for general good behavior.)

Check out other tackles at 5 Minutes for Mom.

That is a very creative chart. We have one, I bought it, but my son loves working toward a goal. For rewards I bought a lot of small toys from the dollar store, put them in a clear bin on top of our refrigerator so he can see what he's working for. Good luck.

Love that you used stuff around the house - might have to try this at some point!

That is really creative. I have a grumpy 7 year old but threatening him with no baseball this spring usually works :).

Let us know how it goes.

What a cool idea for a reward chart! I was lazy and bought the Melissa and Doug one when my oldest was about 3.

This is SUCH a great idea! I love that it uses magnets instead of stickers, and is therefore reusable. I may have to steal this idea for potty-training (and good behavior too). My son is 2.5 and we're definitely struggling with potty training as well as tantrums. Cute idea!
