Getting ready for the holidays is stressful enough. There are presents to buy (and wrap and hide), cookies to bake, houses to clean. Then there's the holiday meal. Not only does it involve time I often can't find, it also includes spending money I haven't budgeted in during the holiday season.
I assume I'm not alone in feeling this way, as Walmart has teamed up with Chef Aarón Sánchez to offer tips on cooking a holiday meal for under $30.
Walmart’s $30 Christmas feast for eight includes:
- One 10-pound spiral cut half-ham
- Three 8-ounce cans Del Monte Green Beans
- One 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes
- One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
- One 10 inch Pumpkin Pie
- Shrimp Tray (5 servings)
- Vegetable Tray (10 servings)
- Hillshire Farms Little Smokies (8 servings)
- Pillsbury Crescent Rolls (6 servings)
- Land O’Lakes Egg Nog (8 servings)
- Red Velvet cake
Plus, we buy most of our groceries at Walmart. It not only saves us money, compared to the prices at other grocery stores nearby, but we can pick up our dinner supplies while doing our last minute shopping.

Be sure to check out Walmart's Holiday Meal page to find recipes and tips for the holiday season.

my tip is to leave the kiddos AT HOME so you can concentrate on the sales/coupons!
Shop sales only and use a coupon to go with the item that is already on sale. Look for a store near you that has double coupons, although not everyone can do that. Thanks!

I use coupons on top of sales on top of store specific coupons...
Also shop at Aldi or shop online when free shipping is available (less likely to impulse buy that way - at least for me!)
I use coupons and match them to the weekly specials and stock up when prices are low!

My best money saving tip is to stack coupons. Many stores will allow a printed coupon along with a loadable coupon (on the store discount card). I will usually do this when an item is on sale and sometimes get it almost free. I also like big combo deals where you buy one item and get a bunch free. The freezer is my friend.
I follow your blog.
Stacking coupons and only buying when on sale.

I always look at the back of the store for clearance. I have found some great things.
To save money, I do a few things. I always clip coupons! I go to the back aisles or end caps where the clearance stuff is. A smushed corner on a cereal box makes me about $1 at our grocery store. :) I always go to the 99 Cents Only store before the grocery store, because you never know what they will have. They almost always have eggs and milk and salad for $1!
I would love to win this WalMart card. It's where I get all our baby food and Pull-Ups! :)
And I am now following your blog, for a second entry and a chance to get to know you better! :)
My best money saving tip: shop your kitchen before going grocery shopping...it's awful to be putting away groceries and have to move aside what you have to make room for what you bought.

I stopped buying name brand items all the time. There are some foods/items that really dont taste a BIT of difference, but for some...we do stick to our favorites. THIS alone has saved us SO much money. AND, we shop the current sales in the flyers each week and plan our meals around it. AS for gifts...if its not on sale it stays on the shelf or hanger!!! thanks!

I use coupons. Very seldom does something come into our home that did not have a coupon used to purchase it. I love CVS'ing. I don't go way overboard with it though, just enough so that we don't have to pay for any toiletries.

I use coupons and find all the great sales in the Sunday paper!
Don't throw away coupons or leftovers; I'm always amazed how many people throw that stuff away.
I always shop online for the best deal, then search for any coupons or discount codes online; I usually find at least one!
I try to combine a coupon with whats on sale, and I buy in bulk, as long as it's something I know I'll use.
